These delicious beef pastries are the perfect snack or entree anytime of the year. Traditionally found in the Caribbean Islands and made using curry seasoning our recipe calls for a peppery twist with herbs like oregano, thyme, garlic, and rosemary from KBS Black Pepper N Herbs. We also use our KBS Seasoned Sea Salt in the dough and beef for additional flavor. Ya Man!
Serves: Makes 10 Patties
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons KBS Black Pepper N Herbs
- 2 tablespoons KBS Seasoned Sea Salt
- 1 cup butter or margarine
- ⅓ cup water
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 white onion - diced
- ½ cup beef broth
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1 egg
Directions:
1.) Mix all purpose flour, KBS Seasonings and ½ cup butter in a large bowl until the mixture resembles course breadcrumbs. Add water and mix well then shape the dough into a ball. Flatten dough ball into logs, cut into 10 equal pieces then section into a half circle.
2.) In a large skillet heat ½ cup butter and add onion. Cook until golden brown and add beef. Season with KBS Seasoned Sea Salt and Black Pepper N Herbs to taste. After about 10 minutes or until beef is cooked add in broth and bread crumbs - set to simmer and let cook until liquid is absorbed then remove from heat.
3.) Add beef filling to pastry circles then fold over and press edges together. Use a fork to created lined edges then brush each patty with beaten egg.
4.) Bake at 400 degrees F for 30 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Enjoy!
